Parade of Quilts

A Parade of Quilts? Count me in! This parade of quilts is about your first quilt and your most recent quilt.

I first started really enjoying sewing when I learned how to make rag quilts. I am sure all of you will remember this-- I probably made you one! I don't have a picture of my very first one, but they were just like this:

Very simple, but cute-- or at least I used to think so. My first few were very sloppy. My corners did not match up. I had the hardest time cutting squares because I didn't have a rotary cutter. But I found sewing very fulfilling. I loved creating all by myself that was beautiful. And it seemed to help me out of my postpartum blues.

My most recent quilt I can't show you yet. It is a suprise! ;0) So, here again are the twin quilts. Wonky log cabins. I sooo love actually quilting a REAL quilt. And I am getting so much faster at binding by hand.

Hi Leisel ~ I love the twin baby quilts in pink and aqua! Those are absolutely wonderful! I also like the rag quilt, like all rag quilts, it's soft and squishy and altogether snugglyable. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your quilts! And I really do love those baby quilts!

I can't believe you cut square by hand! Without a rotary cutter!!

I just love checking your blog to see all your new quilts that you have made :)

After finishing off my long "to do" list, wonky log cabins are next on my list. How beautiful and who can resist polka dots!

I love the colors and I especially like the striped bindings. Good job. I also enjoyed reading about your grandmother and her collection. I just lost my mother-in-law. It's funny what little things are reminders.

I too was cutting by hand. I finally gave in and got a rotary cutter, straight edge, and cutting mat. Amazing how these tools will make a world of difference!
