I spent hours last night creating a star using this post from Ruffles 'n' Stuff as inspiration. I even took pictures to create a tutorial to share with all of you. It cost me nada and I thought it turned out pretty darn cute. I was frankly quite proud of myself.
So, I set up the tree, "fluffed" it (fakey!), and put the star on this afternoon in prepartion of our decorating family night.
Hubby arrives home. Girlies watching a movie. Me, cooking dinner in the kitchen. K3 shows Daddy the tree. He then comes in the kitchen and promptly tells me, "That is a pretty hideous-looking star." In his defense, he had no idea that I had made it. He probably figured that I bought it at a thrift store or somthing. But, still. . . talk about deflating the sails. So, as of tonight I am selling all my crafting supplies and quitting forever! (Or at least for the next hour or so. ;0)
Since no blog post is complete without a picture, I guess I will show it to you. (I do have a whole bunch of pictures, after all.)
I LOVE IT!! I wish I would've made one instead of buying the crapping wal-mart kind.
ReplyDeleteOh don't be disheartened - please! I think it looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteMy darling hates most things I make - If I listened to him I wouldn't make anything at all & be rocking in a corner mumbling to myself... ;)

ReplyDeletePut a Jayhawk patch over the top and he'll love it :)
ReplyDeleteI love it just the way it is. I love how well the light shows through it! Just perfect.

ReplyDeleteCan you please post the tutorial. I've been looking for years for a star that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to go atop my tree. I love it and totally want to make one.
