I like how it turned out, but it is for a boy. Do you think there is too much pink in it for a boy? I am hoping not.
And I tried a scrappy binding this time. I think I like a simpler binding better-- it seems to tie the scrappiness of the quilt all together.
Anyway, on to that giveaway. This is my 100th post. So cool! To commemorate- a giveaway! The winner will recieve all of my Urban Flannel scraps-- LOTS of them! Some of the pieces are at least a quarter of a yard. Very cool.
Two ways to win-- first, leave a comment telling me your favorite line of fabric. For a second chance to win, post about the giveaway on your blog and leave me a second comment saying that you did. Giveaway will end November 1 at 12:00 MDT. Good luck!
Giveaway closed! Good luck!
My favorite line (so far) is Oh, Cherry Oh!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous quilt - and I think we've gotten way too worried about pink for girls and blue for girls! They don't care - it's only us grown-ups that have the problem!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite fabric line? Loving Authentic by Sweetwater (and can't wait for Making Life...) and also Hushabye.
Amy Butler is also very talented but I'm not a huge fan of the new Love.
wow! what a great giveaway!
ReplyDeletemy favourite line of fabrics right now has to be kokeshi from Alexander miller, and Apple (Timeless Treasures)...
and Moda's Oddesea (momo)
I buy my fabric at Joann, trying for whatever is on sale so usually stuff with the "made exclusively for Joann Fabric" label. Does that count as a line?
ReplyDeleteI mentioned the giveaway on my blog, adding "oh boy oh boy I hope I win!".
ReplyDeleteI like Amy Butler fabric line! I think that quilt is perfect for a boy. very cute!
ReplyDeleteI posted on my blog.
ReplyDeleteAdorable quilt!! My favorite fabric line right now is Moda's Hello Betty. The new Amy Butler, Love, is also beautiful.

ReplyDeleteCongrats to your 100th post! Only recently I started a blog and currently can't imagine to reach 100 one of these days - but people like you do inspire me to keep on going. As for the fabric line: I like Tula Pinks "Neptune". Thanks for the give away and many more posts to come!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love those flannel scraps! I've been collecting bits of flannel all year, to make another scrappy flannel quilt, and they would be perfect! And congrats on 100!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line these days is Bubblegum Basics. I have some, and it's so pretty I can't bring myself to cut them!

Happy 100th post.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line of fabrics is Moda, with their Metallics being one that I'm currently drooling over!
I too love scrappy quilts and am currently working on making charity scrappy quilts with flannel scraps. Your scraps would certainly be happy with my scraps, and those that others have given me to make into charity quilts. Flannel does multiply!

I really dont' have a favorite line of fabric...but, I have a little story for you. In my new quest to save money..job , economy you know. I found an ad on craigs list. Daughter was selling all her mothers sewing items. The mom was in a nursing home and probably not getting out. The daughter warned me LOTS of stuff. Well she was serious. I was excited and very sad at the same time. I drove 45 minutes and all I can say is WOW> The mom was a crafting hoarder. I dug thru so many piles of stuff and hardly put a dent in it all. I left with heavy heart and a station wagon filled to the top with fabric. Some of the fabric was 10 yrs old (tags attached). Much of the fabric was unfinished projects. The brother was not very friedly and convinced I was going to sell the fabric. No, I told him all of your mothers fabric will go into my quilts made with LOVE as gifts for family and friends. I never sell my quilts. He seemed relieved. So, my favorite line is well scraps. Happy Quilting
ReplyDeleteLisa from Cloverbrook Cottage
I think it is perfect for any child. It is fun and unique. my favorite fabric line is frolic.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog to post on, but I have shared your thread on my facebook page to almost 900 friends, does that count? I love your quilts and my favorite fabric line hands down is Garden Party by Anna Maria Horner.
ReplyDeleteRight now I am loven the Amy Butler August Fields ~ Love it.
ReplyDeletemicahjocarter@yahoo.com
This quilt is so cute by the way!
Isn't flannel wonderful and soft? I make the rag quilts for the grands...well, two of the 8 anyway. Maybe these scraps would motivate me to get some made for the others?
ReplyDeleteFavorite line? Anything by Fig Tree...I love the suble colors...
Right now my favorite is Moda's Authentic, closely followed by Arcadia.
ReplyDeleteI love that scrappy look...with a pieced binding, too! Not too much pink, and, as someone else said, we're too worried about 'appropriate' colors these days.
ReplyDeleteMy fave line is Authentic. Second is Wiscasset.
Congratulations on your 100th post! This is a great giveaway! I donate quilts to a hospital in my hometown (on my own, not through any guild or organization) and this is the perfect season to be working with flannels! Thank you for the opportunity!

my fav right now is Amy Butler's midwest modern. your quilt is perfect for a boy!
ReplyDeleteI think your quilt has just the right amount of pink, I always like including pink in boy quilts...every color is worth adding to a baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love Nest by Tula Pink. Such a great line of fabric. Thanks for a chance at your scraps.
Amy Butler's Belle.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 100th! Here's to many more..
ReplyDeleteI like a lot of different fabrics, but I'm crushing on Amy Butler's Love collection right now.
Thanks.
I'm loving Cherrywood fabrics but as far as a line, there's nothing I favor. They're beautiful hand dyes.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite at this time is Authentic, but French General is a close second.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been sewing much with flannel, but I sure like your baby quilts!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!
ReplyDeletethat's generous!
I think you're quilt is great! Pink for boys is a tricky one--I think it depends on who the recipients parents are ;)
My fave line of fabric right now is Make Life... by Sweetwater--but since it isn't out until March I would say my fave is Simple Abundance by Bonnie and Camille...
I'm a Moda girl all the way!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I am currently in love with the Wonderland by Moda collection, though that is subject to change. I am such a fabric freak, I fall in love too easily with bits of cotton.
ReplyDeleteheidig@gmail.com
What a great give a way. I must say I have just returned to quilting and love on these new more modern prints. I just love Heather Ross, and Amy Butler.

I love flannel baby quilts and flannel scraps!! One of my many fave fabric lines is anything by Michael Miller. The Meadowsweet line is especially charming. I am wanting to create my own blog and would love to win my first giveaway!! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Lately I've fallen for Anna Maria Horners Fabric lines.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite fabric line yet BUT my m-i-l showed me a quilt she is making from Kauffman oriental and it is GORGEOUS. I almost "stole" it all from her :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to play with all your left over pieces. I just got given a new machine as a birthday present that they could break in :)
What a delicous giveaway. I love anything Anna Griffin. She is my favorite. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite fabric line. I realy like scrap quilts, so every fabric will do for me. I do have favorite colors: i love reds/pinks/oranges/limes.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have a great blog, so keep on blogging!
I love looking at all the cute fabric, but I don't ever pay attention to what it's called. Even if I did know what to call it, I don't think I could choose a favorite. So far I have not allowed myself to spend much money on fabric. When I get better at getting projects done, maybe that will change. I do like ALL the fabric I've seen in your projects. (Those scraps look like so much fun!!!)
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt for a boy. I think it's perfect because if it ends up being passed down to a sibling, it would be okay for a girl too.
well, i'me VERY new to quilting...so i don't know a lot of fabric lines yet. i do LOVE MODA though...right now i'm working on a cute pumkin/fall quilt. i'm creating my own wonky squares with scraps that one might have otherwise thrown away.
ReplyDeletei am spending all my spare time sewing, pressing, and trimming and loving every minute! and i can't wait to build up my fabric stash. thanks for your wonderful blog!!!!

Your quilt is just too cute and congratulations on your 100th post! Oh gosh, it's so hard to pick a favourite! Right now it's probably Simple Abundance by Bonnie & Camille for Moda or Tula Pink's Hushabye!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 100 posts!
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite line of fabric is "pop garden" by Heather Bailey.
I'd love to win!
That's not too pink at all. But any boy who complains about pink can always be told that Winston Churchill (a man's man, and a boy's man, for sure) always wore pink as a boy, as did all his contemporaries.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line is Good Folks, although Mother Goose and Friends, sadly mostly gone, is a close runner up, since it's so perfect for baby stuff.
Thanks for the chance!
Lovely quilt! Not too much pink - both my boys loved pink when they were younger!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favourite line, I love all fabric! Although I have been drooling over some of Amy Butlers new Love collection!
Seriously, am I really expected to choose one favorite??? I guess I'm partial to Moda, AB, AH....Ah, who am I kidding I couldn't single out one if I tried.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite changes weekly! But the one that always catches my eye when I see it is Hello Betty by Moda in the retro (aqua and rust) colorway! LOVE it and really should have bought more when it was readily available!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the quilt! I get my fabric at thrift stores and JoAnn's remnant bin, so I have no clue who the designers are; I just like 'em.
ReplyDeletemy favorite is wonderland by momo! congrats on 100 and thanks for the generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have a new found love for anything Moda. :0) I love the quilt! Great job. I would use it for either girl or boy.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win your giveaway. I'm wanting to do a crazy quilt and this would be perfect!
Thanks for the chance.
The quilt is beautiful. I LOVE the fabrics! And I agree, who cares what colors are for boys and girls, they love everything until we tell them the color rules, lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't have one favorite fabric line, there are too many I love!
hmmm.... my favorite line? Is it ok to say that I don't have one? !! I honestly am just too cheap . I shop yardsales for vintage finds from old ladies scraps! sad... I know. I'd love your scrap flannels though. I do rag-top quilts w flannel and always need more. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI linked to your giveaway on my blog, Rag Top Originals.
ReplyDeleteHello! I thought your quilt was appropriate for a boy, really not much pink at all overall. Fantastic choice of fabric line, very cute. I have been working with Kaufmann Watermelon lately and liked it a lot.
ReplyDeleteCelia
I am new to the wonderful world of sewing and fabric but I really love Sandi Henderson's Meadowsweet, I can't decide between pear and peach.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid that I don't have a favorite line, or even know of any designers. So far, I've mostly been using fabric that has been sitting in my grandmother's closet, untouched, since the 70's...!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!! I really love Amy Butler and also the Far Far Away line is SO cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing the giveaway! How exciting!

ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/24466477@N08/3995633160/
I also really like the Figgy Pudding line of fabric. I hope to make something for my table once I get my hands on a charm pack.
My favorite line is momo wonderland, I think I have that right, from Moda. Also all of Kaffe Fassett's stuff.
ReplyDeleteLoving Authentic by Sweetwater is my favorite right now. Usually, my favorite is what I am thinking about buying. I've never met a fabric that I couldn't love!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quit. I don't really have a favorite fabric line. I like hunting for vintage fabrics but if I have to go with current than anything from Alexander Henry makes me happy. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI;m a big fan of Kafe Fassett fabrics and just about anything Japanese with a storybook theme :)
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be adding your blog to my reading list. Such cute stuff, and I've only seen a few pages!
