This post is part of a month long series called 'Pattern Makeover Month.' I took a simple pattern (The Sweet Dress by Leila and Ben) and 'made-it-over' into many different styles. For more information, go here.

Need a different look with your skirt?
Try this one.
Take your Sweet Dress pattern and cut it to be about 2-3 inches below the waist line. Cut the a-line shape in slightly. Also, add about 1 inch to the neckline and cut straight across. Cut your pattern using the red lines in the picture:
I used an old t-shirt for the top and just used the sideseams of the shirt-makes it even easier!
Sew your sideseams. Shir three lines around the bottom of the shirt, about 3/4 inch up from the bottom and then 1/2 inch apart. Shir three lines on both necklines, about 1/2 inch down from the top and 1/2 inch apart. Make a rolled hem edge on the armholes. Stitch together the shirred portion of the neck on one side.
On the other side, add two elastic button loops and two buttons.
Perfect for twirling!
