So You Think You Can Quilt- Round 3

Scroll down for May Giveaway Day!
For those of you just joining us, I currently have a contest going on called 'So You Think You Can Quilt.' Each contestant is required to make a quilt a month, based on the theme picked for them. Then, each of you gets the chance to vote on your favorite. So take a look at all six and vote for your favorite!

Quilt #1- Sunstruck (Amy)

To make this quilt I used Caryl Bryer Fallert's Free Flying Geese in a Circle (http://www.bryerpatch.com/pattern/pattern.htm) paper pieced pattern as a jumping off point, enlarging the pattern slightly on a copy machine. The photo online of the finished quilt indicated that the quilter should trim the circle of geese both inside and out (essentially making a donut of flying geese), but I adapted the pattern so that each of the four quarters was squared off. The four quarters of the circle went together like a dream. I enjoy the contrast of circles and squares in the piecing and continued that with the quilting.

Quilt #2- Circle Gets a Square (Melissa)

I call it Circle Gets a Square. (We always watched Hollywood Squares after school when I was a kid.) I love the play between circles and squares and the vintage appeal of the fabric. The finished size is 40" x40".

Quilt #5- Joy Riding in Circles (Jennilyn)

Who won't look at the map, no matter what?
No maps, no problem, no destination, no goals- just instant gratification and joy-riding, in circles.
Not me. I've got somewhere to go.

Quilt #6- Road Map Quilt (Eve)

This is the quilt that inspired me to start quilting. I knew as soon as I saw the theme for this month that now was my time to bite the bullet and try to piece curves.

I hand quilted the tracks with hand dyed lime green embroidery floss and then filled out the rest with circles of all different sizes. The back is where you can really see those circles pop!

All that's missing from the puzzle is a big old box of hot wheels.

Go vote for your favorite on the left side bar!

If you have a quilt that fits the 'Circles' theme, link it up!
We want to see it.
