This post is part of a month long series called 'Pattern Makeover Month.' I took a simple pattern (The Sweet Dress by Leila and Ben) and 'made-it-over' into many different styles. For more information, go here.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

For this variation, I used a men's dress shirt for the main dress. The bigger the shirt the better. Cut the shirt apart on the seams. Use the main shirt part for the main dress pieces. Use the shirt sleeves for the sleeve fabric. Change the buttons.
Then use Dana's tutorial to add pockets.
And the hat?
Yes, the fantastic hat is another pattern from Leila and Ben. The Little Cap Pattern. A perfect accessory to the Sweet Dress.

I love it. I'm glad it's a repurposed shirt. At first, I thought we were going to have to do the button holes ourselves.

ReplyDeleteI have found a perfect shirt for a dress like that but it has pockets. Would you rip them off first? Did your shirt have pockets?
Thanks
