This Mama Makes Stuff

This post is part of a month long series called 'Pattern Makeover Month.' I took a simple a-line, peasant dress and 'made-it-over' into many different styles. For more information, go here.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

One of the very first blogs I started to follow was This Mama Makes Stuff. Carrie is an amazing person that has a kind of balance to her life that I can't even fathom accomplishing. Not only is she amazingly talented at creating things, but she also runs marathons (real ones--you know, like 26 miles!), gives her time at her children's school, is actively involved at church and is teaching her young children how to serve others. I'll just bet that her house is always spotless and she cooks gourmet meals, too. Maybe she should change her blog title to read,

"This Super Mama Makes Stuff."

And let me tell you, the day her picture showed up on my followers list, I about peed my pants. Let's just hope she never realizes that compared to her, I really am not that inspiring. ;0)

Okay, so now that we have established that I am an adoring fan,
let's get to the crafty part, shall we?

Carrie is the refashioning queen. One of my very favorite refashions she has done is this one:

Before

After

A wedding dress to a blessing gown-- fabulous!

And since I have been sharing ideas on how to refashion some of those vintage linens, I wanted to share a couple tutorials of Carries that I would love to try someday:

and

If you have tried either of these, I would love to see a picture. And hopefully someday soon I will have my own version to show you.

Thanks, Carrie for all your inspiration, crafty and otherwise!

  4. These makeovers are very cute. Still, at the end of this post I kept looking at the photo of the Lexington dress below it. Really like it. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com

  8. How nice to have this spotlight on your blog! So sweet. And honestly, my house is always a mess (I like to say it's in a state of creative disarray). And my cooking leaves a lot to be desired. My kids don't get bathed every day (or even every other day). I'm late with the bills too often and I forget EVERYONE's birthday except for my kids. There is always something that has to give. Perfect balance & true supermomhood in a total myth. :)
